Musicians showcase talent at fall concert

DANVILLE, KY—The Centre music program will present its annual Fall Musicians Showcase concert on Oct. 31 at 3 p.m. in the Audrey R. Gillespie Recital Hall on campus. The event is free and open to the public.

The program will feature 18 student musicians, including several freshmen who hold music scholarships. Students will perform works by Haydn, Telemann, Bach, Poulenc, Chopin, Ravel, Schumann and others.

"The annual Fall Musicians Showcase is a marvelous opportunity for students to share their many talents," says Laurence Bitensky, assistant professor of music. "We're pleased to have such a wide variety of vocalists and instrumentalists performing on violin, piano, trumpet, flute, clarinet and English horn."

Student performers are: David Brown, baritone; Andrew Burtman, English horn; Katelyn Conroy, flute; Candace Davis, violin; Katherine Everett, trumpet; Derrick Grant, tenor; Adriane Mackenzie Hall, mezzo-soprano; Eric Hill, piano; Matt Lane, violin; Melissa Langdon, flute; Stephen Ludlum, baritone; Catherine Lynn Naiser, soprano; Jon Neuman, trumpet; Joung Park, clarinet; Amy Raghuraman, piano; Cassie Restrepo, flute; Elizabeth Wolfe, piano; and Jessica Woodworth, flute.

Made possible by gifts from alumni, the Centre Fine Arts Scholarship in music supports students who demonstrate outstanding musical talent. These scholarships are awarded regardless of intended major.

Centre music scholarship recipients have the opportunity to work with outstanding faculty, experience world-class artists at the College's Norton Center for the Arts and participate in numerous student ensembles.

Music scholarship audition dates for 2005-2006 are Feb. 5 and 12, 2005. Early Action scholarship applicants should plan to audition on Nov. 13, 2004.
