RELEASED: Jan. 29, 2004

DANVILLE, KY—If you were asked to describe Centre College using only five words, how would you do it? A few Centre students gave it their best shot, but most agreed that five words weren't enough to describe the intensity of education, the quality of professors, and the exciting social environment they've encountered at the College. Here's what they had to say.

"An experience worth every penny,"— Matt Steinfeld, sophomore government major from Hopkinsville, Ky.

"Challenging, Intriguing, Exciting, Worth it,"— Bess Flynn, senior chemistry major from Mayfield, Ky.

"The Centre experience is unforgettable,"— Anne Nesmith, senior art history major from Louisville, Ky.

"My home away from home,"— Zach Brooks, freshman computer science major Owensboro, Ky.

"Caring, Fun, Intellectual, Outstanding, Personable,"— Charles E. Newsom II, senior double major in classical studies and history from Cincinnati

"Challenging, Enriching, Motivating, Fulfilling, Engaging," — Ashley England, sophomore government major from Burlington, Ky.

"Centre shapes students into citizens,"— Lee Boyd, senior philosophy major from Danville, Ky.

"Intimate, Challenging, Inclusive, Accepting, Helpful,"— Heather Shapland, senior elementary education from Louisville, Ky.

"Rewarding, Bustling, Stimulating, Pleasantly tiring," — Katie Martin, junior double major in government and international studies from Midway, Ky.

"Friendly, Thought-provoking, Open, Fun … Best,"— Cynthia Vance, freshman art major from Bardstown, Ky.

"Where over-achieving is merely mediocrity," — Chris Fleming, senior economics major from Louisville, Ky.

"Where professors really enjoy teaching,"— Adam Owens, undeclared freshman from Pataskala, Ohio

"Challenging, Community, Supportive, Enriching, Memorable," — Amanda Ledford, junior double major in government and history from Clinton, Tenn.

"It's just that friendly,"— Lindy Pritchard, senior psychology major from Lebanon, Ohio

"Centre is home to me,"— Ashley Kingsolver, junior religion major from LaGrange, Ky.
