Israel Philharmonic to perform at Norton Center

DANVILLE, KY—One of Israel's oldest and most influential cultural institutions will appear at Centre March 11. The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra will perform at Centre's Norton Center for the Arts at 8 p.m. in Newlin Hall. The Israel Philharmonic, originally called the Palestine Orchestra, was formed in 1936, 12 years before the founding of the State of Israel. On May 14, 1948, the orchestra performed the Israel national anthem at the official ceremony that declared Israel a sovereign and independent state.

The orchestra maintains a prominent position in the cultural life of the nation.

The College's Norton Center for the Arts is an internationally acclaimed performing arts center that annually brings to Centre a series of acclaimed musical groups, Broadway shows, individual performances and other works from the performing arts.
