| Graduate is first Kentuckian to climb Mount Everest Courier-Journal chronicles journey of Mills Funk Davis '93 RELEASED: July 22, 2004 DANVILLE, KYMills Funk Davis 93 realized a lifelong dream this past spring when she successfully climbed to the summit of Mount Everest. It took Davis 58 days to reach the icy peak thats 29,035 feet (about 6 miles) above sea level. It wasnt an easy adventure. The climb was challenging and dangerous. Davis suffered some minor injuries along the way. But she made it and got to watch the sun rise over China. Davis, who is a double major graduate from Centre with degrees in economics and anthropology, is believed to be the first Kentuckian to conquer Everest.
