DANVILLE, KY—"Basketball as Religion," a CentreTerm course that looks at basketball and other sports in order to learn about religion, was the focus of a recent National Public Radio story.

David Hall, the assistant professor of religion who developed and teaches the course, and students in the class were interviewed on NPR's weekly sports show "It's Only a Game." The four-minute segment aired March 20. To hear the story, go to http://www.onlyagame.org/about/stations/ and visit the March archives.

NPR programming is heard on more than 750 independent public radio stations and has 22 million weekly listeners.

The Centre course has also been highlighted on the Paul Harvey "News and Comment" radio program, in the Charlotte Observer, The Chronicle of Higher Education, the Memphis Commercial Appeal, the Louisville Courier-Journal, the Daytona Beach News-Journal, the Evansville (Ind.) Courier-Press, the Lexington (Ky.) Herald-Leader and in a national Associated Press story. It's also been featured on WHAS-TV (Channel 11) of Louisville and WTVQ-TV (Channel 36) of Lexington.

Hall developed and taught the course for Centre's innovative three-week term in January in which students take one class. To learn more on the class, see http://www.centre.edu/web/news/2004/hoops04.html.
