| A 'model' campus: Centre to take historic photo

In celebration of the College's reclaiming the No. 1 national spot in annual alumni-giving percentage, a photo shoot will be held on Thursday, Sept. 9 at 11:10 a.m. Students, faculty, staff and alumni are invited to be the stars of the event. They should meet at the back of Centre's Norton Center for the Arts. A free T-shirt and a surprise gift will be awarded to participants while supplies last. A free high-resolution digital copy of the shot will be available to all who participate. A similar No. 1 Centre photo taken in 1990 appeared in national and regional publications and now hangs as a giant blowup in the Warehouse. The College received 5,686 alumni gifts during this year's annual-giving campaign to give it the nation's highest annual-giving percentage at 63.4. Williams came in second at 63 percent, and Davidson placed third at 62.8. Centre has finished first in giving percentage 16 of the past 21 years. The College has cracked the 60-percent mark in annual alumni giving for 23 consecutive years, the only school in the country that can make that claim.
