RELEASED: Feb. 26, 2004

DANVILLE, KY—The Centre College music program will sponsor a piano recital featuring Donald A. Zent, professor of piano at Asbury College. The event takes place March 2 at 7:30 p.m. in Centre's Gillespie Recital Hall. It's free to the public.

Zent will perform works of Haydn, Ellington, Bolcom, Granados and Chopin.

He will give a public master class March 2 at 11:30 a.m. in the recital hall.

Elizabeth Wolfe, instructor of piano at Centre, says, "It's with great pleasure that Centre will be welcoming Dr. Zent, a pianist with both virtuosic and lyrically expressive command of the piano repertoire. Dr. Zent's playing is engaging, and his artistry is superb."

A piano soloist and accompanist, Zent holds a bachelor's of music and a master's of music from Indiana University, and doctorate in musical arts from College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati.

Zent has taught college music students for 29 years. He began his teaching career at Indiana Wesleyan University (formerly Marion College). Since 1988 he has taught at Asbury College in Wilmore, Ky. As professor of piano and coordinator of keyboard studies at Asbury, he teaches applied piano, group piano, piano pedagogy/literature, and form and analysis.
