In the season of giving

RELEASED: Dec. 16, 2004

DANVILLE, KY—Though students may often prefer that professors not give finals, the joy of giving and the spirit of the season has captured campus again this year. Recently, Centre students have donated over 75 hours of bell ringing, have provided gifts to 80 local nursing home residents and have made up 60 "angels" for the local Angel Tree network.

The College has also received many gifts, literally and figuratively, over the last year—returning to the No. 1 ranking in annual alumni participation, opening with the largest enrollment in history, and having the men's cross–country team advance to the national championship.

"We're especially thankful for the generosity and loyalty of our alumni, parents and friends, particularly at this time of year," says Jamey Elliott '96, director of annual giving. "Without their support, our students and faculty wouldn't be able to do all of the wonderful things that they do both on campus and in the community throughout the year and during the holidays."

Wouldn't it be nice to give a gift that keeps on giving? The gifts of alumni and friends to Centre enable the College to provide scholarships and financial aid to deserving students, and help fund outstanding opportunities such as the study–abroad program, which gives every student the chance to study in another country. Most important, these gifts allow the College to continue to provide a personal education that enables students to go on to achieve extraordinary success.

In addition to the final opportunity to gain 2004 tax credit, December 31 marks the end of the first half of the annual giving year (July 1, 2004 – June 30, 2005). To make a gift to the College, please visit http://gifts.centre.edu/.
