Play ball! Centre offers summer sports camps

DANVILLE, KY—Several Centre College coaches are directing sports camps this summer for boys soccer, girls soccer, swimming, boys basketball, field hockey and volleyball.

The 15th annual boys' soccer camp, for ages 10-18, will take place on Centre's campus July 4-9. For more details, contact Centre men's soccer coach Jeb Burch at (859) 238-5253.

A girls' soccer camp led by Centre women's soccer coach Gina Nicoletti will be held at Centre June 27-July 2. The seventh annual camp is for ages 10-18. Contact Nicoletti at (859) 238-5493.

The 2004 Colonel swim camp will be held June 20-25 at Boles Natatorium at Centre. This is the first swim camp at Centre and will be led by Centre swim coach Dean Brownley. All campers must be 9 years old by the first day of camp. Call Brownley at (859) 238-5540 to register.

Centre men's basketball coach Greg Mason will host two camps this summer. The first camp will be held June 7-10 at Mercer County High School; the second June 21-24 at Danville High School. The morning session will be for ages 6-10. The afternoon session will be for those 11 and older. For more information, contact Mason at (859) 238-5491.

The field hockey camp, led by Centre coach Tom Hobbs, will take place at Centre June 20-23. Hobbs can be reached at (859) 238-8746.

Centre's volleyball camp will be held at Mercer County High School, June 14-17. The camp is led by Stephanie Dragan, Centre volleyball coach. The camp is for ages 12-18. For more information, contact Stacey Hall at (859) 734-4364, ext. 4.

Centre offers nine intercollegiate sports for men and 10 for women, competing in the NCAA's Division III as a member of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, a top league recognized for academic and athletic excellence.
