| Student orchestra to hold spring concert
RELEASED: May 6, 2004
The free program will include music by famed composers Ralph Vaughan Williams and Georg Philipp Telemann. A highlight of the program will be the performance of three orchestral works by Jessica Chisley, David Flora and Rosann Wilson, three of Centre's talented composers and graduating seniors who study composition with Laurence Bitensky, assistant professor of music at Centre. "It's particularly exciting to have student musicians performing works by their fellow students," Bitensky says. "It creates a unique collaborative environment that's very energetic and stimulating." Centre's music program offers a wide variety of performance and academic opportunities. A student may take private lessons, participate in ensembles and take courses ranging from music theory and history to world music and jazz history. Centre offers Fine Arts Scholarships to students who show outstanding promise in music and dramatic arts, regardless of intended major.
