Centre receives high marks in value

RELEASED: Sept. 23, 2004

DANVILLE, KY—Colleges and universities in the U.S. received an "F" in affordability according to a recent study by the National Center for Public Policy and Higher Education. Centre, however, is staying well above the curve as one of the best educational values in the nation.

Here is a breakdown of how the College fared on the issue of value in magazines and college guidebooks this summer:

— Centre has been selected for inclusion in the 2006 edition of America's Best Value Colleges, a Princeton Review college guidebook. Centre is one of fewer than 100 schools across the country to be chosen. Selection is based on a wide range of criteria, including tuition and financial-aid figures, as well as the opinions of each college's undergraduates regarding their academic experiences and how satisfied they are with their financial-aid packages. As one of the selected colleges, Centre will also be considered for naming to the book's Top Ten Best Value Colleges list, which will be published in the book.

Princeton Review ranked Centre No. 4 as a "best bargain private college."

— Centre is the most affordable of the U.S. News & World Report top-50 liberal arts institutions and ranks No. 13 for best value among liberal arts institutions.

Consumers Digest ranks the College at No. 10 in its "Top 25 Best Values for Private Colleges and Universities."

— The 2005 Fiske Guide To Colleges lists Centre as a "Best Buy." Only 23 private colleges in the best-selling book, which reviews more than 300 colleges and universities, were granted this distinction.
