| Jane Stevenson named Associate of the Year
RELEASED: Feb. 3, 2005
Stevenson, a guidance counselor at Owensboro's Daviess County High School for the past 34 years, cares deeply about young people and their future. The citation honoring Stevenson read, "Jane Stevenson has been a factor in the success of thousands of students, including many who came [Centre's] way." Stevenson, a 1953 graduate of the College, has served on its board of trustees for 18 years. Her father, William F. Stevenson, was in the Centre class of 1914, as were several other relatives. "One aspect of Centre that never changes is the experience you feel returning to campus," said Stevenson in accepting her award "As you approach the campus your heart skips a beat. I'm so proud to be a part of it." Stevenson has served for more than 30 years on the governing boards of the Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary and the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra. Within the state, she has served on the board of Kentucky Governor's Scholars and Leadership Kentucky. An elder of First Presbyterian Church, Owensboro, she is active in numerous community organizations, including the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Owensboro Hospital Guild.
