Courier-Journal profiles Centre musician/athlete

RELEASED: June 30, 2005

DANVILLE, KY—A multi-talented and well-traveled Centre College student was the subject of a recent feature in the Louisville Courier-Journal.

The story, by sports reporter C. Ray Hall, told of sophomore BJ Wright's whirlwind summer, which took him to both London and New York in two separate showcases of his rare combination of talents.

A running back for the Centre football team, Wright is just as comfortable playing bass with a classical orchestra. This summer, he traveled with the Colonels to London to take on (and defeat) the British national team. A few weeks later, he was performing with the Youth Performing Arts Philharmonia in New York's famed Carnegie Hall.

Wright was the subject of an earlier story on the Centre Web site, which can be seen at http://www.centre.edu/web/news/2005/footballbass05.html.
