| Coming soon, My Centre Life: The Freshman Year
RELEASED: Sept. 1, 2005
Once upon a time you had to actually be one to know the answer to that question, but in the era of the Internet there's an easier way. Starting the last week of September, curious parties can feel what it's like to move away from home, make new friends, and experience the challenges, excitement, ups and downs of the first year of college lifeall at the click of a mouse. My Centre Life: The Freshman Year will be a year-long series of Web journals (with lots of pictures) written by a diverse group of six entering freshmen. These regular postings, along with occasional Centre homepage feature stories on the student journalists, will give readers an excellent feel for the fun, difficulties, surprises and changes of the freshman yearfrom six unique perspectives. The identities of the six incoming freshman are currently a closely guarded secret, so each can ease into the sometimes stressful first month on campus. But beginning with the first posting, their weblogs will provide a fascinating glimpse into six very different student lives. The student journalists will write about rainy days and challenges as well as sunny ones and successes. They'll also include pictures of the experience from Day One, beginning at home before they headed out for Centre. Readers will have a chance to see these Centre freshmen in their hometowns and meet their family and friends. As the college experience unfolds the journalists will write of their classes, life on campus and off weekend road trips, holidays at home, spring break, heartbreak, new friends, a new life.
