| Chisley, former standout student-athlete, is now new women's soccer assistant coach
RELEASED: Sept. 1, 2005
Asked if she found it difficult to make the transition from player to coach, Chisley says, "Not at all. At first I thought it would be, but we all understand the difference and the change in the role. I have a great deal of respect for the players and they have a great deal of respect for me. They've really helped to make it a great transition." And she's looking for a strong season. "I think the team is in for a great experience. We have coach [Jay] Hoffman's [Class of '96] first recruiting class in and they're great. They work hard; we had our pre-season tests and they're not easy, but they performed well and gave 100 percent." The team has seven returning members and 18 freshmen. Chisley was an All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference selection all four years with the women's soccer team, and was named to the first team twice and the second and third team once each. She was also Centre's Defensive Most Valuable Player all four years and the SCAC's Defensive Player-of-the-Year her final season. Along with her all-conference accolades, Chisley earned 3rd Team All-South Region status and was a team captain as a senior. As a member of the softball team, she was named to the SCAC Honorable Mention team twice and earned Centre's Best Teammate Award as a sophomore and the Miss Hustle Award as a senior. For the past five years, she has served as goalkeeper coach for both the Centre men's and women's soccer camps. Chisley has also given private goalkeeping instruction and training for the past three years and was the assistant girls' soccer coach at Boyle County High School in 2004. Chisley will work with Centre's goalkeepers and defense. - end - Founded in 1819, Centre College is ranked among the U.S. News top 50 national liberal arts colleges.
