The Centre commitment

RELEASED: April 28, 2005

DANVILLE, KY—As the May 1 application deadline approaches, high school seniors should be aware that only Centre College makes the following promise: if you meet your normal academic and social obligations you:

  • will graduate in four years,
  • will get a chance to study abroad, and
  • will be able to take part in an internship.

If this promise isn't fulfilled, Centre will pay for up to another year of tuition.

This pledge, called "The Centre Commitment," reinforces Centre's goal of providing students a personal education that fits their needs.

"The vast majority of our students graduate in four years," says Carey Thompson, dean of admission. "They arrive in the work force or in graduate programs in a more timely manner than students at other Kentucky institutions."

Centre makes the opportunity to participate in an internship program widely accessible and 75 percent of the College's students study abroad, making it one of the top international studies programs in the country.
