The second edition of “My CENTRE Life: The Freshman Year” premiers in two weeks

RELEASED: Sept. 14, 2006

DANVILLE, KY—Ever wonder what it’s like to be a freshman at Centre College?

You might ask a yoga-practicing environmentalist, a Pennsylvanian-born athlete, a volleyball-loving Audrey Hepburn fan, a proud Texan, a lacrosse player who thinks Sean Connery was the best 007, or a Lexingtonian whose uncle is a three-time Pulitzer winner.

These are sketchy descriptions of six real freshmen who have agreed to document, in words and photos, their freshman year at Centre. In two weeks, visitors to the My CENTRE Life Web section will know their names, their faces, and what they're up to in the classroom, in the dorm, in the dining hall, and at campus events.

"My CENTRE Life: The Freshman Year" will be a year-long series of Web logs or blogs (with lots of pictures and some video) written by a diverse group of six freshmen. These regular postings will give readers an insider’s view of fun, challenges, surprises and personal growth during the freshman year—from six unique perspectives.

The student journalists will write about successes, disappointments, and a host of other learning experiences as they navigate their first year at Centre. Readers will have a chance to see these freshmen in their hometowns and meet their family and friends. As the school year unfolds, the journalists will write about their exams, the holidays, CentreTerm, spring break, and other aspects of college life.

As one of the six bloggers wrote just before leaving home for her college adventure, "I want to work as hard as I can and learn as much as I can, all while having the time of my life."

Watch this space for more previews, and get ready for the second edition of My CENTRE Life!
