One week away from a new year of My CENTRE Life

RELEASED: Sept. 21, 2006

DANVILLE, KY—In just one week, you’ll be able to read and see what it’s like to be a freshman at Centre College.

Six real freshmen will open up their college lives to readers by posting journals and photos (along with some video) of their first year at Centre.

My CENTRE Life: The Freshman Year will be a year-long series of blogs or Web logs written by a diverse group of six freshmen. These regular postings will give readers an insider’s view of the excitement, challenges and surprises of the freshman year from six unique perspectives.

The identities of the journalists will be revealed next week when readers learn their names and faces, and read autobiographical sketches.

Until then, here are some hints at who the bloggers are:

  • One is a basketball player whose younger sister inspires her to sing and dance
  • Another is the son of a psychotherapist who would also like to become a doctor
  • One is a Honduran-American who was part of the Kentucky Junior Miss scholarship program
  • Another is an only child who grew up in a small town with a second grade class of only four children
  • One is a Kentuckian whose parents and siblings got tattoos as part of a family bonding activity
  • Another has spent the summer working as a sales rep for Hewlett Packard
