New "Extraordinary Success Program" begins at CentreRELEASED: Oct. 12, 2006
The program will be administered through Career Services. Students will submit a faculty-sponsored proposal that will be reviewed by a committee appointed by Centre President John Roush. Proposals will include: a cover letter outlining graduate school aspirations, a record of appropriate graduate or professional school standardized testing, a letter of support from a faculty sponsor, an expense budget and a resume. The committee will evaluate proposals based on the quality of the student's graduate or professional school plans (with a reasonable expectation of admission) and whether or not the student will receive compensation for travel from their proposed graduate school. Included in the proposal should be a statement from the student and the faculty sponsor giving reasons why a given institution is particularly well respected within the field and why the match between the student and the institution is strong. Students must have at least a 3.35 Centre grade point average to be considered. Applications will be reviewed twice a year with deadlines of November 1 and February 1. If a proposal is approved, the student will be reimbursed up to $750 (depending on the budget approved and receipts submitted) in order to apply to, and, if applicable, visit the graduate school. This program seeks to further enhance the tradition of extraordinary success that has long been a hallmark of the Centre education.
