Abigail Malik joins Centre communications staffRELEASED: Oct. 19, 2006
In this position Malik will write and edit news stories, serve as liaison between the media and the Centre faculty and staff and assist in marketing activities. Since April 2006, Malik has served as newsletter editor for Thirteen/WNET in New York, N.Y. A native of Ashland, Ky., she worked as an editorial intern for Beliefnet.com and as a multimedia lab supervisor at Pace University. As an undergraduate she served as the editor-in-chief of The Trail Blazer at Morehead State University, as conference coordinator for the Kentucky Intercollegiate Press Association (KIPA) and as an educational tutor for the Migrant Education Program. Malik holds a B.A. in both English and journalism from Morehead State University and will complete an M.A. in publishing from Pace University in December. In 2005, she was recognized as a George M. Luckey Honors Program Graduate and the Outstanding Journalism Student of the Year from Morehead. She's been awarded the Headline Writing Award and Opinion Page Layout Award from KIPA. Mike Norris, director of communications at Centre, says: "We're extremely pleased to welcome Abby to the communications office team. She brings energy and expertise to this position and fine writing and editing skills that will help us more effectively tell the Centre story to an ever-expanding audience."
