Speaker discusses triumph over eating disorders

RELEASED: April 6, 2006

DANVILLE, KY—Centre College will present a lecture on eating disorders by Jenni Schaefer, singer, songwriter, and author of Life Without Ed: How One Woman Declared Independence from Her Eating Disorder and How You Can Too.  The free public event will take place on April 12 at 7:30 p.m. in Newlin Hall on campus.

Schaefer reaches her audiences through a presentation that includes an inspirational story of her struggle with anorexia and bulimia intertwined with poetry, humor and song.  Instead of repeating facts about eating disorders in a rote fashion, she provides valuable information through the sharing of her passionate story that began when she was only four years old.

From intimate thoughts written in personal journals revealing the absolute horror of an eating disorder to the ultimate freedom that she experiences today, Schaefer's goal is to inspire hope within the hearts of her listeners.

Schaefer is a contributing author to Chicken Soup for the Recovering Soul and the upcoming book Chicken Soup for the Recovering Soul: Daily Inspirations.

The lecture is sponsored by: BLISS - Body Love Inspiring Strong Students, Parsons Student Health Center, the Centre Convocation Committee, the Panhellenic Council, and the Student Life Office.
