Centre offers summer sports campsRELEASED: June 1, 2006
DANVILLE, KY—As is traditional at Centre, several College coaches are directing sports camps this summer. They include boys soccer, girls soccer, swimming, baseball, boys basketball, girls basketball, field hockey and volleyball. Boys Soccer Camp. The 17th annual boys' soccer camp, for ages 14-18, will take place on Centre's campus July 2-7. The College will also offer a junior camp for ages 9-13 for communters only June 5-9. A girls' soccer camp led by Centre women's soccer coach Jay Hoffman will be held at Centre June 25-30. The ninth annual camp is for ages 10-18. For more information, visit the girls soccer camp website or contact Hoffman at (859) 238-5554. Swim Camp. The 2006 Colonel swim camp will be held June 18-23 at Boles Natatorium at Centre. This is the third annual swim camp at Centre and will be led by Centre swim coach Dean Brownley. All campers must be 9 years old by the first day of camp. The first annual Centre baseball camp, led by Centre baseball coach Michael Pritchard, will be held June 12-15 for ages 6-15. A high school team camp will be held June 12-14. The College will host a day camp July 10-13. The morning session will be for ages 6-10; the afternoon session will be for those 11 and older. For more details, contact Mason at (859) 238-5491. Girls Basketball. Wendie Austin-Robinson, Centre's women's basketball coach, will lead a girl's basketball camp July 17-20. The field hockey camp for middle and high school ages, led by Centre coach Kimberly Hughes, will take place at Centre June 18-21. The camp is led by James Neyhouse, Centre volleyball coach. The camp is for students entering 7ththrough 12th grades. Centre offers nine intercollegiate sports for men and 10 for women, competing in the NCAA's Division III as a member of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, a top league recognized for academic and athletic excellence.
