Centre announces outstanding scholarship and financial aid program for upcoming academic year
RELEASED: Feb. 15, 2007
DANVILLE, KY—Once again, Centre's programs of need-based financial aid and merit scholarships are among the most generous of any top national college. Centre recently announced that the College has committed more than $13.8 million annually to financial assistance.
Eighty-five percent of this year's freshman class is receiving some form of financial assistance. The average one-year aid package for freshmen receiving aid in 2006-07 was $20,400 with financial aid awards ranged from $3,300 to $32,450. Competitive scholarships at Centre are valued from $28,000 to over $132,000 (full tuition) each over four years.
In making the announcement, J. Carey Thompson, vice president for enrollment and student financial planning, said, "Centre is both a great value and continues to be unusually affordable." US News & World Report lists the College as a top-20 educational value, and the 2007 Fiske Guide to Colleges lists Centre among the 45 "Best Buy" colleges and universities in the nation. Centre is the most affordable of the U.S. News top 50 national liberal arts colleges.
President John Roush commented, "Centre's national reputation provides real advantages in gaining entrance to graduate and professional schools and in the job market. At Centre, students finish on time. Ninety-seven percent of Centre graduates complete their degree in four years."
Alongside a generous need-based financial aid program, Centre will again offer merit-based scholarships to over 60 percent of each freshman class, based on academic achievement, extracurricular accomplishment and personal character.
