Centre professor/recording artist to be showcased at piano recital

DANVILLE, KY—The Centre College Music Program will present a piano recital by composer and pianist Laurence Bitensky on Sunday, March 4 at 4 p.m. in Weisiger Theatre.

Bitensky, an associate professor of music at Centre, will perform pieces by Bill Evans, Gabriel Fauré, Marc Mellits, and Eric Satie, as well as premiere two of his own recent compositions. He will be joined by colleagues Vince DiMartino (trumpet) and Elizabeth Wolfe (piano) for several works.

Bitensky, currently a Centre Scholar, teaches composition, music theory, musicianship and world music at Centre. A native of New York, he received a B.M. in piano performance from the New England Conservatory of Music, a M.M. in composition from Ithaca College and a D.M.A. in composition from Cornell University.

Recorded on Mark Records and Sea Breeze Vista records, Bitensky's music has been performed by numerous ensembles and at various festivals around the United States and abroad.
