Centre senior's father to present convo
on coping with quadriplegia

RELEASED: March 1, 2007

DANVILLE, KY—Centre College will present a convocation titled "The Quadfather: A Convocation You Can't Refuse" on March 8 at 7:30 p.m. in Weisiger Theatre on campus. The featured speaker will be Phil Brown, father of Centre senior Adam Brown; Phil Brown was paralyzed from the neck down in a 1993 swimming accident.

Brown will share the inspirational story of how he has managed to exceed his life expectancy after the accident. He has weathered the storms of divorce, lawsuits, unexpected visits to the ER and most recently, identity theft. It is said that Brown has a better attitude about life sitting down than most people do standing up.

Brown has visited rehabilitation centers, high schools and other venues offering his story not only as warning to those with careless behaviors but also reassurance to everyone who has suffered bumps in the road of life.

A native of Scottsville, Ky., Brown earned a bachelor's degree from Western Kentucky University. He is currently writing his memoirs with hopes of publishing them before 2010.
