The article presented tips from college and university marketing professionals for building brand recognition for their institutions. A brand is often described as a promise made to offer values or services that set the organization apart from others. The article comments on the College's success with promotional efforts of the College based on the theme, Personal education, Extraordinary success.

A measure of that success is increased applications and campus visits.

"Campus visits—typically a reliable indicator of the success of recruitment and communications efforts—have been steadily increasing in the past three years," said Mike Norris, Centre's communications director.

"Additionally, the number of applications is a tried-and-true-measure of student recruitment and marketing endeavors, and Centre just established a new all-time record with more than 2,100 applications in hand."

The article's author, Bob Sevier, is a senior vice president of Stamats, an Iowa-based company providing integrated marketing solutions and consulting services to educational institutions. Sevier is the author of several books, and is considered an industry expert in the fields of strategic thinking and planning, integrated and brand marketing, market research, and student recruiting.
