Centre ranked among top-30 best values by Kiplinger

RELEASED: April 19, 2007

DANVILLE, KY—In a recent study by the Kiplinger organization, Centre College was ranked in the list of Top 50 Best Values in National Liberal Arts Colleges. The only institution in Kentucky to make the list, Centre ranked No. 30 among all liberal arts colleges.

Colleges are selected based on a combination of academic excellence and financial flexibility. The winning mix includes an exceptional student body, a low student-faculty ratio and generous assistance for families who can't afford to pay full ticket price for a college education.

"We're pleased and honored to be recognized as one of the best values in the nation by such a reputable organization," says Centre president John A. Roush. "Centre's capacity to remain a place of both high achievement and high opportunity, plus being nationally recognized for our low debt-load, is a tribute to the generosity of our friends and alumni, who provide us with unparalleled support." For the past 20 years, Centre has led the nation in the percentage of alumni who give annual financial support.

Kiplinger's recognition of the College is the perfect compliment to other credits to the value of a Centre education. Last fall, both U.S. News and World Report and Barron's Best Buys listed Centre as a great college at a great price. U.S News has Centre currently ranked No. 18 in the "Great Colleges, Great Price" list.

For the past eight decades, Kiplinger has been a leader in personal finance and business forecasting. Located in Washington, D.C., the organization focuses on delivering sound, unbiased advice to families and businesses in clear, concise language.
