DANVILLE, KY—Centre College senior art majors will present an art exhibit titled "All New!" from May 9-20 at the Aegon Gallery in the Jones Visual Arts Center on campus. A public reception for the artists will be held on May 13 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The exhibit will also be open on May 20 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The eleven exhibiting artists are:David Benjamin Askew, Amanda Blair, Ashley Crace, Paige Dawson, Candice Lee Hensley, Ted Jeckering, Grace J. Le Maitre, Steven Muck, Anne Rushing, Mary Catherine Starr and Emily Caroline Wilson. The artists will show paintings, drawings, ceramics and art glass.

"This exhibit is notable for its wide variety of subject matter," says Judith Pointer Jia, Centre associate professor of art. "The glass artwork ranges from totemic vessels to abstracted nature forms, and the paintings and drawings are all made in a realist manner with themes ranging from the classic stories of Hercules to colorful portraits of hanging clothing to portraits inspired by poems. The ceramic artwork approaches the human figure in various degrees of abstraction, including vessels made to express personality traits of individual people."

The exhibit is the culmination of the study of studio art at Centre. The Art Program offers instruction in both studio practice and art history, with major and minor concentrations available in both areas. Media taught include drawing, oil painting, printmaking, ceramics and hot glass.
