Videos give student perspectives on Centre experience

RELEASED: May 31, 2007

DANVILLE, KY—For the second year in a row, the Centre College admission office has sponsored a contest for aspiring filmmakers on campus. Each contestant was required to create a video no more than two minutes in length that answered the question: What's your favorite aspect of Centre College?

After all the videos were submitted, prospective students were given the opportunity to vote for their favorite video on YouTube. The contestant who produced the most popular documentary won an Archos 404 portable media player/camcorder.

This year's winner, Adam Brown '07 of Bowling Green, Ky., created a video named after Centre's promise, "Personal education. Extraordinary success."

Brown says of his inspiration for making the video: "For me, Centre is about access to some of the most extraordinary minds in academia today. The College fosters personal relationships between students and professors so that the bridge between scholarship and everyday life is thoroughly realized. It's these experiences, collaborating with a professor, shooting pool with a professor, having a cook-out with a professor, that build long-lasting bonds of trust and make the Centre experience truly inspiring."
