Centre begins academic year with record-breaking student enrollment

DANVILLE, KYIt's official: the total opening enrollment for the 2007-08 Centre College academic year is an all-time record.

As of Aug. 30, Centre's opening-day headcount was 1,190, which includes 316 freshmen and six transfers. Last year's opening-day number was 1,147, which also set a record.

With a record-breaking enrollment, the ongoing construction of Pearl Hall (Centre's newest residence hall) and the beginning of the $45 million "Trustee Challenge" campus building project (which includes a new science and math center, a campus center and a complete refurbishment of the Norton Center for the Arts), Centre's campus will be packed with students and full of excitement and activity throughout the year!
