2. Hometown: Roanoke, Va. Although I was born in North Carolina, I grew up in Roanoke, and my folks still live there. 3. Career highlight: Directing the Campaign for A More Perfect Centre 4. Favorite college course: Contemporary Literature and the Christian Faith 5. Recent presentation or other professional project: Presentation on "Fundraising as Storytelling" for CASE District III. (CASE is the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education.) 6. Family: My wife Patsi and twin daughters Mary and Elizabeth 7. Hobbies: reading, walking/hiking, woodcarving 8. Most memorable experience of your education: As a first-generation college student, simply leaving home to enroll in a small, residential liberal arts college. 9. Prized possession: Because it took eight years to find, a copy of Philanthropy in the Shaping of American Higher Education (1965) by Merle Curti and Roderick Nash 10. Favorite book: Viktor Frankl's Man's Search for Meaning 11. Memorable trip/vacation: A 2002 family trip to Yellowstone and Mount Rushmore 12. Favorite movie: I'm not really a movie person, but I love the Broadway production of Les Miserables. 13. Favorite album: No one favorite 14. Favorite artist (of any type): James Taylor 15. Attitude toward technology: Most machines hate me. 16. Person you most admire: There are many, especially among the men and women who serve on Centre's Board of Trustees. High on my list of people I most admire is J. David Grissom '60, who has chaired the Centre Board for the past 22 years. 17. Living figure you'd most like to meet: Bill Gates 18. Historical figure you'd most like to meet: Benjamin Franklin 19. What would you be doing if you weren't working at Centre? Either consulting or raising money for another college or university 20.
