Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee forum at Centre postponed

RELEASED: October 8, 2007

DANVILLE, KY Centre College received word late Monday morning that the Mike Huckabee forum scheduled for Wednesday (Oct. 10) is being postponed. Following is the press release issued by the Republican Party of Kentucky.

"FRANKFORT, Ky. - The Republican Party of Kentucky announced today that 2008 Republican Presidential hopeful Governor Mike Huckabee is postponing his visit to the Bluegrass State. Governor Huckabee was scheduled to be the featured speaker at a forum at Centre College on Wednesday, October 10, 2007 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Eastern time. The event was postponed due to unforeseen scheduling issues with the Huckabee Campaign. The Huckabee Campaign continues to explore alternative dates for scheduling the event at Centre."

While disappointed that the appearance won’t occur as planned, officials at the College noted that last minute changes are not unusual in the fast-paced and sometimes chaotic world of presidential politics. The Huckabee Campaign is still very interested in presenting a forum at Centre and is looking for alternative dates in November. They have made it clear that if an event can be scheduled in Kentucky, their first-choice venue is Centre College.
