Centre and Austin join forces for Susan G. Komen Foundation
RELEASED: October 18, 2007
DANVILLE, KY—Centre men's soccer head coach Jeb Burch has a friendly wager with Austin College (Texas) men's soccer head coach Mark Hudson: the two friends have turned to their teams to see who can raise the most money for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Komen for the Cure is the world's largest and most progressive grassroots network of survivors and activists working to ultimately eradicate breast cancer. Komen for the Cure is 125-affiliates strong, with locations in cities and communities across the United States, Germany, Italy and Puerto Rico.
The Austin College Kangaroos travel to Danville for a conference match against the Colonels on Homecoming weekend, Saturday, Oct. 27, at 6:30 pm.
Both teams are currently working hard to raise money for the Komen Foundation. The winning fund-raising team will be announced prior to the 6:30 p.m. kick–off. A combined check of total money raised will then be presented to the Louisville chapter of the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
"We came up with this idea last January," Burch said. "Both Mark and I, along with the Centre team and community, have seen first hand the impact breast cancer can have on life. It was natural for us to want to raise money for the Komen Foundation."
Interested donors can contact Jeb Burch at firstname.lastname@example.org to contribute on behalf of the Centre men's team. Mark Hudson can be contacted at email@example.com to contribute on behalf of Austin College.
Donations will be accepted until Friday, Oct. 26.
