Trash is lovelier the second time around:
Centre exceeds annual recycling goal

RELEASED: September 20, 2007

DANVILLE, KYIn August 2006, Centre set an annual recycling goal of 50 tons. That goal was exceeded this August by more than two tons, thanks to faculty, staff and students.

Centre collects plastic bottles, aluminum and steel cans, cardboard, fiberboard, magazines, newspaper, mixed paper, and clean trash and grocery bags. Recycling containers are set up in every building on campus.

Check-in day for first-year students is the biggest recycling day of the year, says Cheryl Coulter, recycling coordinator at Centre.

"I had 1,326 pounds in two days," she said. "I had to get another truck to haul it to keep up!"

To help increase community awareness of Centre's recycling program, a booth will be set up in Cowan Dining Commons on America Recycles Day, Thursday, Nov. 15. Anyone visiting the booth can enter a drawing for prizes. For more information contact Cheryl Coulter at 238-5923 or cheryl.coulter@centre.edu.
