Academic year to begin with record-breaking enrollment

RELEASED: August 28, 2008

DANVILLE, KYCentre College's 2008-2009 academic year kicks off on Monday, Sept. 1, and it's anticipated that the student population will top 1,200, an all-time record for the College. Centre also welcomes it's largest-ever group of incoming first-year students (check out this week's story about the Class of 2012.)

"We are thrilled to have our students back on campus, and excited about the size and quality of the new class," says Randy Hays, vice president and dean of student life. "We’ve been able to make improvements to our existing residence halls and open a brand new facility to provide all students with an enriching residential life experience. Pearl Hall allows us to offer a new exciting suite-style of living for our upperclass students, and the flexibility to continue to improve our existing facilities."

With record-breaking enrollment, the completion of Pearl Hall (Centre's newest residence hall) and the continuation of the $45 million "Trustee Challenge" campus building project (which includes a new science center, a campus center and a complete refurbishment of the Norton Center for the Arts), Centre's campus will be packed with students and full of excitement and activity throughout the year!
