DramaCentre stages Wilde romantic comedy RELEASED: November 13, 2008 Wilde's play premiered on February 14, 1895 at the St. James's Theatre in London. Set in England during the late Victorian era, the play's humor derives in part from characters who maintain fictitious identities to escape unwelcome social obligations. It features witty dialogue and satirizes some of the foibles and hypocrisy of late Victorian society.
