DANVILLE, KY—My CENTRE Life returns for another exciting journey through a first-year experience of Centre College. Six students from the Class of 2012 have been selected to showcase the sometimes smooth, sometimes bumpy transition to college life. Meet Patrick, an ambitious student whose 13 college applications eventually brought him to Centre. As of right now he's interested in going into law but admits, "Everyone says that you go into college thinking one thing and wind up choosing another, so I'm trying to keep an open mind." Meet Tess, an articulate and thoughtful writer who hails from Lexington but regards herself as not being a "typical Lexingtonian." She laments, "I’ve never been to Keeneland, but I do live in horse country, so I guess I get one point for that." |

Meet Brian, a no-holds-barred personality with a journalism bug that's all consuming. His eclectic tastes are intriguing as he describes his perfect Norton Center for the Arts show. He says, "I'd love to see Tupac and Elton John perform 'Ghetto Gospel' and then Rage Against the Machine play with System of a Down." Meet Chel, a Brazilian born in Mexico with a Brazilian, American, and a bilingual diploma from the International Baccalaureate Organization. She doesn't quite understand American football yet, but with a love of all cultures, she's sure to learn quickly. Meet Laura, a world-traveled humanitarian who—when she isn't volunteering—finds time to play a little softball. If given the opportunity, she'd love to sit down with Lance Armstrong and pick his brain about perseverance over a "mean bowl of cereal." And finally, meet Andrew, a witty sports lover who likens himself to Bear Grylls from Discovery Channel's "Man vs. Wild." He looks forward to pursing an international studies major but is quick to point out that he doesn't want to worry about a minor until he no longer is one. And, this year marks a fundamental change to the viewer's experience—video. Each of the participating students has been equipped with a digital video camera to document classes, sporting events, plays, personal thoughts, residence halls, campus life…and other aspects of Centre. Audiences across the world can tune in online to scope out Centre as a possible college choice, look back and reminisce about their days as a Centre student, or just learn more about one of America's hottest colleges.
