Senior Erin Menard becomes first Centre women's soccer player to be named All-American
RELEASED: December 11, 2008 Menard was named to the All-American second team. She also was named to the All-Great Lakes Region first team and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) first team. Also in 2008, Menard led the Colonels in goals scored with 10; she now ranks fifth in all-time career goals scored in the SCAC. Along with earning the college's first ever All-American award in women's soccer, Menard also helped the Colonels earn a bid to their first ever NCAA Division III tournament appearance last month. Jay Hoffman, head women's soccer coach, on Menard's nomination: "Erin came to Centre wanting to accomplish several things. The first was to make the national tournament, and the second was to become an All-American. I guess you could say Erin was taking a long nap and waiting for all her dreams to come true. With that being said, she can now wake up from that amazing four-year career of hers and enjoy what she's done for the Centre College Soccer Program. "Right from the start, Erin has been able to score goals and plenty of them. She also has been able make herself a dominant presence on the field. There are many things that Erin does extremely well. The one thing that doesn't get noticed is how she can take a training environment and turn it into an environment that breeds success. Day in and day out, Erin did the little things that made her special. I couldn't be happier for Erin and the Centre College Soccer Program."
