Little Richard and hit Broadway musical Movin' Out among headline acts for 2008-09 season at Centre's Norton Center for the Arts

DANVILLE, KYThe 2008-09 schedule for Centre College's Norton Center for the Arts showcases the best talent from the sound studio and the stage.

Tony Bennett, Al Green, the Beach Boys, and Little Richard headline the list of musical artists performing this season, while theatrical favorites such as Altar Boyz, Movin' Out, Annie, and Ain't Misbehavin' are sure to delight audiences of all ages.

Fresh off an electrifying performance at the 2008 Grammy Awards with John Fogerty and Jerry Lee Lewis, rock and roll icon Little Richard comes to Centre as the star performer for this year's Family Weekend on September 20.  Centre's own BILLYBLUES will be performing earlier on the evening of September 20.

For Homecoming, Billboard magazine's number one selling artist of all time, the Beach Boys, will carry those good vibrations from summer into the autumn night on October 24.

From Broadway, winner of the 2005 Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Off-Broadway Musical, Altar Boyz comes to the Norton Center on October 14. 

Lauded for the spectacular dance numbers by legendary director/choreographer Twyla Tharp, Movin' Out features two dozen Billy Joel classics on Dec. 11.

Other notable performances this season include the acrobatic spectacle, Cirque d'Or; percussive tour de force, Drumline Live; feline feature Moscow Cats Theatre; and America's oldest, and arguably most distinguished, musical ensemble, The New York Philharmonic Orchestra, will perform on March 5.
