DANVILLE, KYCentre College alumni are known for going on to extraordinary careers, opportunities and adventures.

During recent Homecoming festivities, three such alumni were recognized for their success by being named 2009 Distinguished Alumni.

Since 1997, Tracey S. Corey '83 has served as the chief medical examiner for the Commonwealth of Kentucky. A top forensic expert, professor, author and frequent guest lecturer, Corey has been profiled in various publications and was most recently featured on Dateline NBC. She has served Centre as an admission volunteer and as an alumni board director.

C. Thomas Hardin '63, who led teams that won two Pulitzer Prizes for photography, spent more than 30 years as the director of photography for the Louisville Courier-Journal. While engaged in a demanding career, Hardin still found time to devote to his alma mater. In addition to serving as an admission volunteer, alumni board director and member of the parents committee, Hardin recently served as editor of Our Standard Sure: Centre College Since 1819, the most comprehensive history of the College ever written.

The book tells the story of Centre College from the days preceding its founding to the present time. Complete with more than 700 pictures (some never-before published) and fascinating stories from Centre’s past, it is a compelling book for anyone who has once called Centre home or has an interest in the institution.

In the years since his graduation, Gregory Dale Smith '95 has received national recognition as a researcher, lecturer and author in his chosen field of chemistry and conservation science. Greg served as an alumni board director as both a student and an alumnus and has volunteered his time to his reunion committee and Centre's admission office.
