Centre College announces 2009 inaugural Brown Fellows

Brown Fellows will receive scholarships covering tuition, room and board and will be provided four summer enrichment experiences, beginning the summer before their first year at Centre. The 2009 inaugural class of Brown Fellows will participate in a two-week trip to Panama to study leadership issues surrounding the expansion of the Panama Canal. Summer enrichment experiences in subsequent years will be organized around themes of service, research, international study and leadership. The 2009 Brown Fellow recipients are: Bethany Nicole Carson, Allen High School, Allen, Texas Robert Eugene Carter, Lexington Catholic High School, Richmond, Kentucky James Andrew Howard, Western Hills High School, Frankfort, Kentucky Ibrahim Khan Jadoon, Model Laboratory School, Richmond, Kentucky Cara Patricia Monical, Clear Lake High School, Houston, Texas Natalie Elaine Pope, South Oldham High School, Crestwood, Kentucky Anne Elizabeth Roessler, Sycamore High School, Cincinnati, Ohio Kevin J. Sar, DuPont Manual Magnet High School, Louisville, Kentucky Katherine Elizabeth Smalley, Ensworth High School, Pegram, Tennessee Cole Robert Steber, Danville High School, Danville, Kentucky Centre is the only private college in Kentucky selected for a Brown Fellows Program; the foundation has also initiated a Brown Fellows Program at the University of Louisville.
