ATTENTION: Updated campus weather information
RELEASED: February 2, 2009 —2:00 p.m.
Classes will begin as normal on Wednesday. IMPORTANT: All main buildings on Centre’s campus—including buildings/residences on St. Mildred's Court and Fifth Street—now have electricity and heat. Nevertheless, students who are off campus for CentreTerm break should NOT return to campus earlier than the afternoon of Tuesday, Feb. 3. (This will give Facilities Management extra time to deal with major clean up and other tasks created by the ice storm.) We still are under a boil water advisory, which means that water can be used for bathing and toilet flushing. Water is not safe to drink or to use for teeth brushing unless boiled and will not be until further notice. The City of Danville is asking that we continue to conserve water. Meals for Centre students will be served in Chowan on Monday and Tuesday (only lunch on Tuesday) from 11 a.m.-noon and 5 p.m.- 6 p.m. At 5 p.m. Wednesday all three dining locations will resume regular hours. Centre community members who are able to volunteer their time and/or supplies, please try one of the following numbers and someone will direct you to where help is needed the most in the community: 324-2048; 324-2049; 324-2050; 324-2051. The DPS help number (236-4357) is operational for emergencies. Cell phone service is improving. Use caution if you must go out. Falling tree limbs remain extremely hazardous. Exercise caution when traveling and avoid walking near trees. Tune in to local radio station 105.1 FM for the latest weather and emergency related information. Also check out the Advocate-Messenger Web site for the latest stories and pictures from around the community. - end - Founded in 1819, Centre College is ranked among the U.S. News top 50 national liberal arts colleges.
