Coolest Room contest is under way

DANVILLE, KY—When it comes to dorm-room décor, Centre College has some of the most stylish and creative minds around. So every year, the Communications Office seeks out the crème de la crème of campus pads and celebrates them in the annual Coolest Room Contest.

Beginning Thursday, March 5, Centre students were-and-are challenged to submit their rooms into the running for the coolest room on campus. Roommates can enter their rooms at www.centre.edu/coolestroom, where they will be prompted for their names, email addresses, building name, room number, cell phone number and, finally, a brief description of why their room is the coolest. The deadline for entries is Friday, March 27, at 5:30 p.m. EST.

Eight elite rooms will be photographed on March 30 and 31, but only four will proceed to the next round of judging. The four finalist rooms will be required to host a film crew for one hour between April 1 and 8 to produce a short video à la MTV Cribs. These videos will then be uploaded to YouTube at www.youtube.com/thecentrechannel and used to present the rooms before viewers cast their vote for the coolest between April 16 and 29. The winning room will be announced Thursday, April 30, on Centre's homepage.

Rooms will be judged on the basis of color, creativity, decorations, theme and overall look.

But what good is a winner without a prize? Furthermore, what good is a prize if the winner has to share it with a roommate? These are, without a doubt, very good questions, each with encouraging answers. Each resident of the Coolest Room on campus will receive a $50 gift card to the retailer of his/her choice.
