RELEASED: January 19, 2009

DANVILLE, KYOn Saturday, Jan. 17, Centre College held special halftime ceremonies to honor the four basketball teams that have represented the College in the NCAA Division III Final Four. The ceremony honored the women's teams ('88-'89, '89-'90) and the men's teams ('78-'79, '88-89). Click photos for larger images.

The first Centre team to reach the Final Four was the men's team of 1978-79. That team set a school record for victories (25) that stood until last year. Ten years later, in 1988-89, Centre became the first Division III team in NCAA history—and only the second team in any division—to send both the men's and women's teams to the Final Four in the same year. The women's team of 1989-90 not only went back to the Final Four, but also hosted the tournament. Click here for previous story and photos.
