Has published op-eds on Middle Eastern international relations in the Lexington Herald-Leader, Miami Herald, and Cincinnati Enquirer. In 2002, he traveled with a group of Arab-Americans to meet with high-ranking Lebanese and Syrian officials, including Syrian President Bashar al-Asad, and Lebanese President Emile Lahoud.
 
Expert on ancient languages including Biblical Hebrew. A scholar of the Hebrew bible (Old Testament) and biblical literature.  
His class "Cafes and Public Life," was featured in an AP story that reached millions of readers across America and abroad. The author of several books on sociology and religion, Weston is now completing a history of Centre College.  
Co-author, with David Anderson, of "Gender Role Stereotyping of Parents in Children's Picture Books: The Invisible Father." Recently appeared as an expert witness in the change-of-venue phase of the Lucas Goodrum murder trial.
 
Scholarly interests include African politics, women and development in West Africa, and democratic transitions in Africa. Has written op-ed pieces on issues such as the conflict in Liberia and Operation Iraqi freedom.  
Focuses on the economics of sports, including baseball player salaries, stadium finance, and horse racing; public policy—American economic history. Placements include a USA Today column, Los Angeles Times, and Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
