Expertise in recent American history. Author of Paper Soldiers: The American Press and the Vietnam War, an acclaimed book about U.S. press coverage of the war in Vietnam (W.W. Norton and Co., 1993; paperback, University of Chicago Press, 1995). Historic preservation issues related to the Civil War. Holds a dual appointment as a Centre professor and an administrator; expertise in fund raising, student leadership programs, and strategic planning.
