Boston Pops perform in Newlin Hall (Jan. 1999)
Newlin Hall in Centre College's Norton Center for the Arts is the site for the vice presidential debate. The performance hall has seating for 1,500 and a sophisticated acoustics/sound system. (Note: The Boston Pops returned to Newlin Hall on March 27, 2000 to kick off a national tour of their new program of Celtic music.)

The town of Danville, with its thriving and historic downtown, has a population of just under 20,000.

Great American Brass Band Festival
Each year, Centre College and the town of Danville host close to 40,000 visitors from around the world for the Great American Brass Band Festival. The festival is usually scheduled in mid-June and showcases performances by the world's best brass bands. There is no admission charge for visitors and much of the festival is run by voluneers from Danville.
