Tickets
for the debate at Centre:
Questions and answers
Information last
updated Sept.18, 2000
What
is the seating capacity of the debate hall?
The seating capacity of Newlin
Hall in the Norton
Center for the Arts is 1,500. For the night of the debate,
that capacity will be reduced due to television production needs. The production crew is likely to cover many seats
with platforms designed to accommodate television cameras. Ultimately,
the Commission on Presidential Debates handles all seating configurations
for the debate hall.
Who
is eligible to receive tickets to the debate?
The Commission
on Presidential Debates controls all tickets. They have indicated
that a substantial portion of all available tickets are reserved for use by commission members,
the candidates, and their guests. A limited number of tickets may be made
available to Centre. The college has committed these tickets to Centre students and to
donors who substantially supported the cost of the debate. The college has helped plan viewing parties for Centre alumni in cities throughout the United States.
