The Proctoring Center services are for students with special testing accommodations for students needing to take a make-up test. The Proctoring Center is located on the 1st floor (lower level) of Crounse Hall. Proctoring services are available to all Centre students and coordinated through the Centre Learning Commons, but use of the Proctoring Center is available by reservation only, as requested by an instructor.

Guidelines for Faculty

Proctoring Center Guidelines

  • Course instructors make Proctoring Center (PC) reservations for their students. Students are not permitted to make their own reservations.
Faculty should schedule students in the PC using the online reservation system.
  • Make a new reservation here: Seat Availability - LibCal - Centre College Library
  • To cancel an existing reservation, click the link provided in the confirmation email that is sent when the reservation is made.
  • Please make all PC reservations well-ahead of the student’s testing day, and no later than 4PM the business day prior.  For Monday exams, please make the reservation before 4PM Friday afternoon.
  • Please make PC reservations well-ahead of the student’s testing day, and certainly no later than 4 PM the business day before the student will test. For Monday reservations, please submit the exams before 4 PM Friday afternoon.
  • Please deliver your exams to the PC as soon as possible. There are three ways to do this:
    • Upload when making the reservation by using the option provided on that screen
    • Email directly to proctoring@centre.edu
    • Hand deliver to the PC, Monday-Friday between 8 am and 4 pm
  • Please avoid last minute deliveries of exams as this creates extra stress for students!
  • Students are expected to attend their PC reservation as scheduled.  Proctors will allow a 15-minute grace period both before and after designated start time.  Any student who wants to start earlier will need professor’s approval.  If the professor wants to allow the student more flexibility, please state so in the additional notes on the reservation form.
  • If a student misses their reservation, or shows up more than 15 minutes late, an email notification will be sent to the instructor. Instructors are asked to treat a no-show in the PC the same as in their classroom.
  • Students will be asked to put their smart phones/watches in a bin inside the PC.  Laptops and other larger devices may be left in their backpacks in the hallway.  This is a change from previous PC policy.
  • Items that are available in the PC for student use:
    • Blue books
    • Writing utensils
    • Paper (lined and unlined)
    • Foam disposable earplugs
    • Mini-timers
    • TI 30 calculators *If your student will be allowed a calculator and you do NOT want them to use their own, please note that on the reservation in the additional notes section*
  • Some students require an individual room for testing (for scribing, low light setting, etc.). Please note this on the reservation form and notify the proctors well in advance of the reservation date. This is because plans may need to be made for an additional proctor to be present.
  • Completed exams will be available for professors to pick up anytime between 8 AM and 4 PM Monday - Friday. Exams will be in an envelope on the wall to the left with the professor’s name on it.  If possible, please take the exam but leave the envelope and post-it note for future use.
  • When communicating with the proctors, please send Emails to proctoring@centre.edu instead of an individual proctor. This allows everyone involved with providing services to the student to receive the necessary information.
  • Please email us at proctoring@centre.edu with any additional questions or concerns!

The Proctoring Center is open during every day of the final exam period. Note that no exams should be scheduled in the PC on the day before finals, since this is a reading day.

When possible, students with approved accommodations should take their exam on the same day as their classmates and should be scheduled in the Proctoring Center as follows:

If you have a morning final exam (8:30-11:30): schedule students with time and-a-half accommodation in the Proctoring Center from 8 am – 12:30 pm.

If you have an afternoon final exam (1:30-4:30): schedule students with time-and-a-half accommodation in the Proctoring Center from 1 – 5:30 pm.

Students approved for double-time testing usually take only one exam per day so their exam schedule may need to be rearranged. Please contact the test proctors or Alex McAllister if you need assistance with this.

If a student does not need extra time but still needs to be scheduled in the Proctoring Center, follow the assigned times for morning and afternoon exams established by the Registrar.

Please be sure to make reservations and deliver exams to the Proctoring Center in a timely manner. Name uploaded exams according to the instructions and indicate if your exam requires any special arrangements (e.g. the use of a computer, individual room, etc).

We anticipate heavy traffic in the Proctoring Center during finals, so please book your reservations as soon as possible so we can make all appropriate arrangements.

Feel free to contact proctoring@centre.edu if you have any questions.
