Centre College’s Director of Residence Life Brian Daniel was recently selected as the Central Kentucky regional representative for College Personnel Association of Kentucky’s (CPAK) executive team.
CPAK is the state division of the American College Personnel Association (ACPA) and concerns itself with professionals in the varied areas of student affairs, student services, campus life, academic support and higher education administration throughout Kentucky.
Daniel’s involvement with CPAK began after he was nominated by a colleague from Transylvania University to become involved with the executive team.
“I am honored to be selected to serve as the representative of the colleges and universities of Central Kentucky,” he said. “Previously, I have been extensively involved in professional organizations in North Carolina. I look forward to bringing my passion and experience to Kentucky’s organization.”
In this role, Daniel’s responsibility is to serve as representative for all 14 colleges and universities of Central Kentucky and advocate for their needs. He will also help assist at the annual conference this month in Murray, Kentucky, by helping graduate students with their resumes and interview skills.
“I’m looking forward to serving my higher education colleagues in the central part of the Commonwealth,” he added. “My hope is to provide my constituents with salient information from the organization and to help connect colleagues among the 14 institutions I represent through monthly newsletters, as well as provide them with information on upcoming networking and professional development opportunities.”
At the annual conference, Daniel will also present his research on hate crimes on college campuses titled, “Hate does not discriminate: Exploring bias and hate on campus.”
